What sad news. Dennis and I came back to the sport we love about the same time last year and we hit it off right away. I was really curious why I didn't see him and his family at the Woodbridge National. Last year they were all there and I had a chance to meet his daughter, sister and parents. The whole family were just like Dennis, all smiles. That little guy will truly be missed.

I ran a piece of black tape across my # plate in his memory today. I think I will keep it on for awhile. Paul, our TO, gave a short speech & asked for a moment of silence before the flag lap this morning. The flag lap was dedicated to Dennis & I had the honor of carrying the flag since we were friends. I can tell you, it was the most difficult lap I have ever taken in my life. It's hard to ride when you're tearing up. Dennis, I'm gonna miss you bud. Wow...that is totally sad. He was the same age as me. Hard to hear about a good guy passing. RIP Dennis.

Yea that link didn't work for me either. It's the only info I got. I showed up at the race Thursday night just before the last motos were run. Jammer told me the news. Another parent and rider told me a little later and they attended the funeral. I had heard nothing about it before then. Didn't really hit me till I got home though. I was hoping to catch up with him and Eric Lang at the race because I have been kinda out of touch the last 2 months. I'll see if I can talk to the Stevenson's tomorrow, they might have more info on where to send condolences

Damn, that is sad. I remember Dennis from the old Starlit days (I used to run the gate there for the younger racers in the early 80's) My condolences to his family. Rest in Peace, Dennis...

I corrected it in the earlier post also. Thanks to Rich Stevenson for the heads up on the mistake and my apologies to everyone.

I met Dennis last year racing at Tanglewood NC. I just came off hand surgery. Dennis just started racing again, 30-cruiser class. He hadnt raced since the 80's. We both laughed how bad our skills are.
A month or so later we met at South Park PA. We were pleased at our improvement. However, we both laughed at how radical S-park-track was and how we "were in it" to survive the weekend.
The next week I met Dennis' parents at Woodbridge Va. That is their home track. Dennis crashed so hard jumping the triple in the 3rd strait a few weeks back he had scars on his shoulders from "going for it"
I last saw Dennis at the Grands. We both commented, "we made it"
We didn't remember each other form the 80's. However after talking for a few minutes at Tanglewood NC, it was as we were old BMX friends. He was one of those guys that was totally cool, always happy and an all around great BMX racer.
This made me realize how many friends I have, all over the country, racing BMX over the years. Peace Dennis. LACK

Stories like this put it all back into perspective.
My thoughts are with his friends and family.
I agree with lack on the friendships developed over the years through this sport, we're lucky to have BMX as an outlet. It seems that we have lost a good one in Dennis.

Ok I went to the obituaries section off of the link that Popeye listed trying to leave something for the Dayrit family and Dennis did not show up under current or list all obituaries. Is this the correct funeral home?

Yea Deanna it's the right site. Just type in Dayrit in the name search at the top. The funeral was held on the 21st. (after clicking on obituary link)
